Corney & Barrow has supported Scottish Ballet as official wine partner for over half a decade. Working together on a wide range of events including the company’s biennial Fundraising Gala, their collaborative approach and focus on ‘life rewards the curious’ sets the relationship apart.
In 2022, Scottish Ballet co-hosted a bespoke event for invited guests in Corney & Barrow’s Ayr Cellars, a unique space that dates back to 1766. Associate Choreographer Nicholas Shoesmith created a new dance work, Swirl, to be performed in this unusual venue, with cleverly adapted lifts that navigated low ceiling heights and the specific architecture of the cellar space.
The response to Swirl at the Cellars gave everyone a taste for more. In February 2024 a very special event took place at Oxenfoord Castle, Corney & Barrow’s Edinburgh home dating from the 16th- century. As well as the chance to bring Swirl back to the stage, guests were wowed by excerpts from the iconic Swan Lake and The Snow Queen, with an elegant and insightful wine tasting complementing the performances. This opportunity to connect with each organisation’s clients, supporters and partners was truly one-of-a-kind.
The event, and the wider partnership, further demonstrates our mutual passion for exploring creativity, finding parallels between fine wine and the performing arts. Join us in raising a glass to our long-standing partnership.
