Albert Bartlett’s relationship with Scottish Ballet is rooted in community impact. In 2021/22, the organisation supported Scotland’s national dance company as Access Partner, sharing the magic of ballet with local schools groups across Aberdeen, Inverness, and Airdrie, Albert Bartlett’s home.

With a strong community focus and interest in encouraging arts participation from a young age, in 2025 we invited Albert Bartlett to come back on board as Supporting Partner for Wee Nutcracker. The production is a specially created version of the much loved winter classic, targeted at children aged 5+.

This audience development initiative aims to reduce barriers to access for those with young families. Albert Bartlett’s support ensured ticket prices remained affordable and Scottish Ballet were able to widen reach. The show was specially designed for young attention spans, with children’s theatre consultant Rob Evans on board to deliver an exciting ‘first’ for wee people.

Enhancing the impact on local communities, this partnership provided the opportunity for six primary school classes from Airdrie and Govanhill, where Scottish Ballet resides, to attend a Wee Nutcracker performance free of charge. The positive impact on these 200 pupils is immeasurable, offering them their first experience of the arts in an accessible and inclusive format and aiming to inspire a future generation of dance and theatre fans.
