Scottish Ballet’s Artistic Director/CEO Christopher Hampson created Sinfonietta Giocosa for Atlanta Ballet in 2006 and, after a New York tour, it received its UK premiere with English National Ballet in 2007.

‘In Sinfonietta Giocosa Mr. Hampson fulfilled his promise and then some… Mr. Hampson dusted his ballet with intricate pointe work and a liberal use of port de bras, which the dancers executed with unmannered dexterity. A mesmerizing trio for two men and a woman featured the dancers linking arms while gliding through Mr. Hampson’s delicate, flittering footwork. Taken alone, Sinfonietta Giocosa was a pleasure, but it ushered in something more important: a masterly new choreographic voice.’
