Alex Menzies' Sibilo score released

Alex Menzies’ original score for Sophie Laplane’s Sibilo has been released!

The music for Sibilo, the Italian word for whistle, ranges from the stripped, rigid structures of mechanical sound to the more emotive use of cello and whistling, itself a product of the human body. Alex is able to aptly & playfully balance the tension between the mechanistic modern world and the organic natural state of humankind.

I would tell him what sort of ‘energy’ I was looking for, or an adjective – robotic, mechanical, industrial – and he would come back with some ideas.

Sophie Laplane on her collaboration with Alex Menzies

On the creation of the score, Laplane explained that the process with Glasgow-born DJ, composer and producer Menzies had a lot of backwards and forwards, kicking about ideas and always making adjustments.
