Patrick Macdonald has gained extensive international experience and expertise over four decades in business and not-for-profit organisations. Patrick is chair of technical services company March, facilities management business Arcus FM and call answering service Moneypenny. He is also a director of NatureSpace Partnership, an environmental consultancy, and an angel investor in a number of startup businesses.

Patrick is a member of the Chartered Management Institute’s CMI Women Advisory Committee, vice-chair of the Scottish Advisory Committee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) and a member of the North America Working Group of the Royal Society of Edinburgh . He is a former Chair of the Institute of Directors and a former Trustee of the Woodland Trust.

He started his professional career at the Ministry of Defence before working for Unilever and Boston Consulting Group, based in Germany and the UK. Patrick then joined General Electric (GE) in the USA before returning to the UK as CEO of John Menzies plc, a quoted logistics company. He has subsequently led a number of private equity-sponsored businesses, including circular economy firm Reconomy. Patrick also co-founded the School for CEOs, an award-winning leadership consultancy.

Patrick is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Fellow of the Linnean Society and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute and a Chartered Manager.
