Gary Harris

Staging, Direction, Adaption

Gary has worked the world over as a dancer, teacher, repetiteur and designer. After a career with English National Ballet and as a freelancer in several West End shows he joined Royal Ballet in 1991 as notator and repetiteur. Gary assisted Kenneth MacMillan in the staging of Manon for Paris Opera Ballet and the 1992 production of Mayerling for The Royal Ballet shortly before MacMillan’s death. He was Associate Artistic Director of the Hong Kong Ballet and Artistic Director of the Royal New Zealand Ballet. For the RNZB he restaged SwanLake, Paquita, Coppélia and Giselle, and choreographed The Nutcracker and Don Quixote. Notable design commissions include Christopher Hampson’s Double Concerto for ENB; Hansel & Gretel and Le Baiser de la Féef or Scottish Ballet; and Saltarello, Esquisses and The Sleeping Beauty for RNZB.
