Beibei Wang

Artistic Associate & Guest Percussionist

A woman with straight black hair wearing a lavender blouse holds two percussion beaters with blue, fluffy heads in front of a dark background, looking calmly at the camera.

Beibei Wang is recognised as one of the most distinctive voices in percussion today, celebrated for her “high energy virtuosity” (Wall Street Journal) and her singular ability to unite classical and traditional Chinese percussion traditions.

She has performed as soloist with leading ensembles worldwide, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, and Boston Modern Orchestra Project. In spring 2026, she appeared as percussion soloist with the Royal Ballet in collaboration with choreographer Wayne McGregor. Other recent highlights include the premiere of her immersive visual percussion work at East Kowloon Cultural Centre, Hong Kong, and new compositions presented at LSO St Luke’s and Shanghai West Bund Theatre.

A champion of new music, Wang collaborates closely with living composers, leading contemporary choreographers, and ensembles, including the RPS Award-winning Manchester Collective.

Her first collaborative album with Hannah Peel, The Endless Dance, was released on Real World Records in 2026.
