Dance health volunteers
Making a difference in the studio and beyond
Our volunteers are an integral part of making sure that dance health participants living with neurological conditions are safe and supported in the studio.
[Volunteering for Scottish Ballet, I have] learned more about challenges facing people living with dementia, had fun, learned some basic ballet moves, met new people, discovered that Scottish Ballet has offers for people who aren’t ballet dancers and attended a ballet performance.

What do Scottish Ballet volunteers do?
Our volunteers assist by setting up the spaces, meeting and greeting participants, preparing and serving refreshments at the social time, helping to provide practical support and participating in the dance class.
Our volunteers do not need to have had any previous experience and training is provided, however an interest in dance health is essential.
Where?
Classes primarily take place at Scottish Ballet headquarters in the south side of Glasgow, but there are also volunteering opportunities in Perth.
When?
Volunteers can choose to volunteer on any of our programmes but we do need a commitment of 3 or more sessions per block.
- Mondays (SB Elevate® for multiple sclerosis): 9.30am – 12.15pm
- Tuesdays (Dance for Parkinson’s): 10.30am – 1.30pm or 12.00 to 3pm
- (PERTH) Tuesdays (SB Elevate® for multiple sclerosis): 10:30am – 1.15pm
- Thursdays (Time to Dance® for dementia/ memory loss): 2.15 – 4.45pm
The team at Scottish Ballet put their hearts and soul to make life easier for everyone who attends. Everyone gains – the participants, staff and volunteers.
