What career moment are you most proud of?
My promotion to Principal dancer following a performance of Odette/Odile in Edinburgh. I did not expect it and it was a dream come true. It was so special to be able to share this moment with my husband on stage.
What’s your favourite ballet to watch?
I don’t think I have one. But I love watching the process of a new creation unfold, and seeing the dancers in the company bring characters and stories to life and watching different casts interpret a role. There is no better feeling that when a new ballet suddenly comes together.
What’s your favourite ballet to perform?
Swan Lake by David Dawson. David’s choreography pushes a dancer’s body to new extremes and allows a dancer to be free and to let emotions drive the movement. Through his work I have become a stronger dancer.
What’s your dream role to perform?
Juliet (Romeo & Juliet) is a role that I would love to explore and get lost in. It is such a powerful music and story.
What do you like to do on your days off?
I am not really good at taking days off… But when I am not dancing, I love doing yoga, teaching ballet and/or yoga and going on a walk and for a nice meal with my husband.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Hard work pays off and to believe in my dreams.
What makes you smile?
Dancing with my husband.
What’s the best thing about going on tour with the company?
I love travelling and seeing new places. I feel very lucky to be able to experience different theatres and audiences and to share who Scottish Ballet is around the world.
