New work is the lifeblood of Scottish Ballet. It brings in diverse audiences and attracts emerging talent and choreographers. Investing in new work means taking risks, pushing boundaries.

Supporting this focus in creating original productions is Rathbones Investment Management. Rathbones is an organisation that thrives on new challenges, looking forward and ‘investing for tomorrow’. This ethos aligns perfectly with the pioneering spirit of Scottish Ballet, as the company continues to inspire onstage and beyond. Rathbones Investment Management’s partnership story with Scottish Ballet began in 2021. After a year as Corporate Dance Partner, they wanted to further invest in their relationship with Scotland’s national dance company. Rathbones transitioned to Investment Partner (Supporting New Work) in spring 2022, alongside Scottish Ballet’s first full season back on the stage after Covid-19. The 2022/23 season featured two world premieres (The Scandal at Mayerling, Coppélia) and the return of two recently created works from 2019, The Crucible and The Snow Queen. The importance of investing in new work came to life onstage.

The partnership delivers value for Rathbones in offering extensive entertainment opportunities for their network of clients and contacts, helping both organisations stand out from the crowd and encouraging new connections. Rathbones see the benefit of investing in Scottish Ballet’s future, as the company capitalises on exciting and distinctive repertoire to attract audiences and secure the brightest future.
