By relaxing a little and ‘caring less’ I have been able to appreciate and enjoy moments fully

What career moment are you most proud of?
My promotion to Principal dancer on stage during Coppélia. I had absolutely no inkling that it was going to happen and the fact it happened after a show of Dr Coppelius, a role created on me and so close to my heart, made it even better.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
It’s funny, but I was told once by a former dancer and friend to care less, and those words have stuck with me throughout my career. I used to get so hung up on every little thing that wasn’t perfect, and by relaxing a little and ‘caring less’ I have been able to appreciate and enjoy moments fully.

What’s your dream role to perform?
Romeo and Juliet was the first ballet I danced in professionally and I’d love to finally perform the role of Romeo. The production I danced in was Rudolf Nureyev’s and it was especially demanding for Romeo, which I think makes the end even more rewarding.

What does ‘home’ mean to you?
Spain; The sand, the sea, the sun. The Glasgow weather just doesn’t compare!

What’s your hype song?
Stolen Dance by Milky Chance; hyping me up since 2014.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Your time will come, be patient.

What’s your favourite book?
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I remember finishing it when I was a kid and I couldn’t stop thinking about it for weeks.

What’s the best thing about going on tour with the company?
Travelling the world, having the chance to experience new places, people and cultures.

Repertoire Highlights: Dr Coppelius (Coppélia), Kai (The Snow Queen), MC 14/22

‘Dr Coppelius, played by Bruno Micchiardi in what may well prove to be the role of a lifetime. His laidback arrogance is pitch perfect as the CEO with tunnel vision’
Coppélia, The Scotsman, August 2022

‘CEO, Dr Coppélius, who is distinctly uncanny, danced by a fiendish, narcissistic and mesmerising Bruno Micchiardi.’
Coppélia, Broadway Baby, August 2022

‘Bruno Micchiardi meriting special mention for his delightfully neat turn as Rudolf’s loyal coachman Bratfisch.’
The Scandal at Mayerling, The Times, April 2022
