Healing Arts Scotland Day Events will be taking place in locations throughout Scotland during the week with dialogues, workshops, performances celebrating arts for health in local communities.

Tramway, Scottish Ballet and Hidden Gardens
A dynamic and participatory day to bring together communities, researchers, and academics to celebrate and debate the role of the arts in health.
The day will feature workshops, performances and sessions run by Scottish arts and health practitioners and panel discussions with leading Scottish experts including Chief Medical Officer Sir Gregor Smith. It will also feature world renowned arts and health experts:
- Sangeeta Isvaran – dancer-performer and founder of the Wind Dancers Trust. Working in marginalised, underprivileged communities from over 30 countries towards education, empowerment and conflict resolution.
- Agustin Ivanez – Argentinean neuroscientist and Director of the Latin American Brain Health Institute at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Chile. Interests in global approaches to dementia and social, cognitive, and affective neuroscience.
- Magdalena Schamberger – theatre director, who collaborates with people living with dementia to create accessible performances in theatres, care homes, and other settings.
- David Leventhal – founder of Dance for Parkinson’s Mark Morris Dance Company.
- Dr Nisha Sajnani – Associate Professor and Founder of Arts & Health at NYU.
- Moira Pirsch – Education Director at Maui Arts and Cultural Center. Leading community initiatives using the arts to empower indigenous communities.

Healing Arts Scotland will come to Aberdeen University, NHS Grampian and a range of arts organisations based across the city for a day of performances, workshops and events.
Friday 21 August - Orkney
Various Locations
Healing Arts Scotland will come to Lewis, Shetland and Orkney to amplify the voices of the Scottish island communities to celebrate the arts in wellbeing.
