MC 14/22 (Ceci est mon corps)

2013

MC 14/22 is a meeting of the spiritual and the carnal, drawing on St Mark’s version of The Last Supper in the Bible: ‘Take, eat: this is my body’.

Created for twelve male dancers, Preljocaj’s ‘Apostles of Movement’, and with soundscapes by Tedd Zahmal, this powerfully sensual and passionate work is a hymn to the male body, stripped down to its deepest reality, juxtaposing the glorification of strength and the condemnation of force.

Last performed: Spring 2020, New York City

Scottish Ballet premiere: 2013

Choreography: Angelin Preljoçaj
Music: Tedd Zahmal
Costume Design: Daniel Jasiak
Lighting Designer: Patrick Riou
Choreologist: Dany Lévêque

★★★★★

On an intellectual level, the dancers represent the 12 apostles. On a purely visual level, this is a celebration and exploration of the male form, performed with authority and an astonishing level of control.
