Board of Directors update

Our Board of Directors bring a diversity of knowledge and experience to the company.

Directors engage with the company at all levels, from formal Board and committee meetings, to attendance at rehearsals, events and performances locally and internationally.

We are delighted to announce the following additions to our Board of Directors.

Catherine Muirden – Appointed on 19 Mar 19

Specialising in Human Resources and Business Change, in 2014 Catherine was brought into the Co-operative Group as a leader in the turnaround of the Food business, where she is now People Director. Catherine’s special interests include youth employability, leadership and development and diversity and inclusion.

Barbara Allison – Appointed on 19 Mar 19

Barbara is a senior civil servant with Scottish Government and is currently responsible for Communications, Ministerial Support and Facilities. Previously she was Director of People in Scottish Government, following a number of roles with the Scottish Prison Service. She is the SG Executive Team ally for LGBTI staff. Barbara is a chartered accountant and has worked in both the private and public sector.

Kirsty Wark – Appointed on 12 Jun 19

Kirsty has built up a reputation as one of the UK’s most formidable and versatile television journalists and is best known as an anchor on the BBC’s flagship News and Current Affairs show Newsnight. Kirsty has several major accolades to her name including BAFTA Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting, Journalist of the Year and Best Television Presenter.

James Mackenzie-Blackman – To be appointed on 12 Dec 19

Award-winning theatre producer, arts advocate and venue manager, James took up post as Chief Executive of Eden Court, Inverness in February 2018. James was previously Executive Director of Sir Matthew Bourne’s award-winning dance company New Adventures.

We would also like to send a huge thank you to the following Directors, who will retire at the 12 Dec 19 AGM, for their services to the board and Scottish Ballet.
