Cinders! Visual Story

The story begins in a shop that used to belong to Cinders’ parents. Tragically, ten years ago there was a fire in the shop and Cinders was the only survivor.

Mrs Thorne and her three grown up children Morag, Tarquin and Flossie are the new owners.

Life for Cinders is tough. The Thorne family tease him and make him work much harder than they do!

Act 1

When the performance begins, invitations to a royal ball have just arrived for everyone.

Mrs Thorne quarrels with Cinders, and tries to keep his invitation out of reach.   Eventually, she takes Cinders’ invitation and rips it up into many pieces.   Without it, Cinders cannot go to the ball.

Time stands still and a vision of Cinders’ late parents appears at the top of the stairs.  They magically produce a new invitation for Cinders.   After they leave, Cinders imagines what it would be like to go to the ball.

Hiding in an enchanted rose garden, the ghosts of Cinders’ Mother and Father reappear and dance together while he watches on.  They magically provide Cinders with beautiful clothing fit for the Royal Ball.

They tell him it’s very important that he leaves the ball as soon as the clock strikes midnight, or his handsome costume will turn back into his everyday clothes, and his real identity will be revealed.

Inside the ballroom, Princess Louise arrives along with her good friends, the two dukes Phillipe and Gaspard.

Mrs Thorne, Morag, Tarquin and Flossie, arrive and each of them attempts to impress everyone with their dancing.

Cinders then arrives at the ball and immediately catches the attention of Princess Louise, who gifts Cinders a rose. They spend all evening dancing together.

Midnight strikes and Cinders must leave immediately.  In the rush and panic, one of Cinders’ shoes is left behind.

It’s found by Princess Louise who is desperate to know who he is.

Act 2

Outside the palace, guests are leaving, and the royal party begins their search for Cinders, the owner of the shoe.

The two dukes make fun of the Princess for putting her faith in a simple shoe.

Growing tired of their teasing, Princess Louise sends them away and, in a dreamy mist, imagines meeting Cinders again.

Four royal shoemakers attempt to make a copy of Cinders’ shoe to be sent around the kingdom as they try to find the original.

A royal search party heads off on a door-to-door hunt to find the owner.

Cinders is back at the shop and pieces together memories from the ball before being interrupted by the Thorne family boasting of their own imagined successes.

They discover the shoe belongs to Cinders. Mrs Thorne destroys it, hoping Cinders will never be identified.

The royal search party arrives at the store. Despite huge efforts by Tarquin to get the shoe to fit, the Princess recognises Cinders as the shoe’s rightful owner.

Years have passed and Cinders and the Princess have regained ownership of Cinders’ family business. They have renamed it ‘The Rose Emporium’.

A young girl, their daughter, joins the happy couple suggesting the family business will continue to thrive for years to come.
