Senior Assistant Stage Manager

What we’re looking for

Are you an early career Stage Manager ready to take the next step towards large scale show calling? Do you have the enthusiasm and outstanding attention to detail required for an exciting (and rarely available) opportunity with Scotland’s national dance company?

  • Relevant experience (2 years plus) in professional Stage Management
  • Previous experience as Deputy Stage Manager or Book Cover (any scale/genre)
  • Competent score reading ability
  • The focus, energy and drive to engage in a mentored opportunity, acquiring the skillset to be on the book for large scale ballet productions

 

What you need to know

We are looking for a Senior Assistant Stage Manager initially for a 12-month period. Alongside supporting the general work of the Stage Management department, the role will include regular and guided opportunities on the book, with the potential at the end of the contract to be considered for a permanent Deputy Stage Manager opportunity within Scottish Ballet’s Stage Management department.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Supporting all activities of the Stage Management department and taking a leading role in running the wings during technical rehearsals and performances as required.
  • Acting as book cover and actively engaging in opportunities to acquire the skillset of a Deputy Stage Manager within a ballet company.

 

It is a 12-month, fixed-term contract:

  • Salary is £29,250 per annum.
  • 40 hours per week, with additional hours subject to overtime as per the Equity agreement.
  • Flexibility of working hours to accommodate travel, touring, and attending performances and other events in the evenings and at weekends.
  • This role is based in Glasgow at SB HQ, with requirement to travel extensively with the Company on tour in the UK and internationally.
